2027 RC Webinars: What Would You Like?
We've started planning the next calendar year of events, and would love to hear from you about your ideas and opinions. Tell us a lot, tell us a little – whatever you're comfortable sharing.
Field testing and final revisions on both the RC IDD curriculum and the Restorative Approach curriculum are now complete. Many hands worked on these projects over the past year, and we are proud to introduce them to you, our RC community.
The goals of these updates were to add new elements, to bring the branding up to date, and to mirror important changes made to the 2024 standard RC Training, including discussion of trauma stemming from historical and present-day treatment of marginalized groups.
Rollout and Dissemination
Anyone affected by these changes will receive an email with specifics about delivery of new materials and any special considerations surrounding rollout of those materials.
But in general, this month you can expect: The updated materials will appear on the Trainers' Corner and updated manuals will be mailed to all RC IDD Trainers and Champions/RA Trainers. Now would be a great time to let us know if there are any changes to your main/training contacts or you RC IDD or RA Trainer rosters.
What's Next?
TSI has been engaged in a multi-year project to update all of our materials, and the next slated work will be revision of the RC Refreshers that are posted on the Trainers' Corner. Work will begin soon, with a goal of completion by spring 2027.

Dr. Tim Barksdale explores the complex and often-overlooked intersection of racial bias, racial trauma, and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including autism. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how systemic inequities and lived experiences of racism uniquely affect individuals with IDD and their families across healthcare, education, and community systems. RC Webinar - Beyond Good Intentions: Strategies for Inclusive Trauma-Informed Training and Beyond
At TSI, we believe it is imperative that racial trauma and trauma unique to historically marginalized identity groups, such as LGBTQIA+, immigrants, and those with disabilities, be acknowledged and explicitly included in trauma-informed care principles, practices, policies, and training. Saying so is the easy part. Doing so is the hard part, and this webinar provides specific tips and strategies that Risking Connection Associate Trainers can apply when training RC and that RC Champions can use in daily practice to help create an inclusive trauma-informed organizational culture. October 27, 2026, 3-4:30 ET
This training offers an intensive learning and practice experience aimed at helping RC Trainers teach the RC Basic Training with fidelity to the model. This training is required once every two years.
Please Note: RC IDD Trainers needing Recert, please register for the IDD-specific Recerts in Dec./Jan.
The RC Basic training is part of our Risking Connection Change Model that client agencies take during their initial implementation, and that their RC Trainers subsequently utilize to train additional new staff. But this introductory training is also available through TSI as a freestanding virtual event three times per year, offered as an additional convenience.
When you need to bulk up your group of RC Associate Trainers or Champions, virtual RC Train-the-Trainer is a useful, cost-effective solution. These are your primary advocates and influencers for trauma-informed care (TIC) at your agency; having a strong crew of RC Trainers and/or Champions is a way to sustain and deepen your TIC implementation. November 3-5, 2026, 10-5 ET (open to future RC Trainers & Champions).
Due to no enrollment and the rollout of the updated IDD curriculum, the RC IDD Train-the-Trainer originally scheduled for late September will be rescheduled for spring 2027.
